Due to its extremely clear and transparent surface, it is recommended for electromicroscopic analysis of cytology and for measuring the AOX content of waters. Most dyes do not affect it.
It can be sterilized by autoclaving (at 121°C or 134°C) and by gamma radiation or ethylene oxide.
It maintains its stability up to 140°C and against solutions with pH values between 4 and 8.
