The KS-type neutralizing device was developed to neutralize acid vapors and other corrosive gases leaving the block digester. SO3 and SO2 produced during Kjeldahl digestion with sulfuric acid even in small amounts (1 ppm) cause eye and upper respiratory tract irritation.
The KS 1000 scrubber works in two steps:
The KS 1000 scrubber does not require a tap water connection. Glass tanks and Viton connection tubes allow for excellent performance and resistance. The innovative design allows easy access to all parts, facilitating quick and easy cleaning and maintenance.
For samples with low nitrogen content, such as water samples, TKN analysis requires a large sample volume.
Evaporation of the liquid during destruction can lead to the filling of the KS 1000 dilution tank (which must be emptied during the analysis) and a significant increase in the temperature of the reagents.
The optional kit for water samples (code: A00000477) consists of a 3.5 liter container with a condenser that allows the evaporated liquid to condense and collect without any intervention during the analysis.
This set is absolutely necessary if the sum of the sample volumes to be destroyed exceeds 500 ml. The table below shows when you need to use the additional kit:
Digester | Sample volumes for test tubes | |
---|---|---|
DK 6 | > 80 ml | 83.3 ml x 6 = 500 ml |
DK - DKL 8 | > 60 ml | 62.5 ml x 8 = 500 ml |
DKL 12 | > 40 ml | 41.7 ml x 12 = 500 ml |
Dk -DKL 20 | > 25 ml | 25 ml x 20 = 500 ml |
The additional kit for water samples (code A00000477) can replace the dilution tank (image 1) or be used as an additional step (image 2):
