Applicable for dry, wet and cryogenic grinding, the device is capable of monitoring and controlling temperatures between -100 °C and +100 °C. For hard, semi-hard, brittle, soft, elastic and fibrous samples.
The device can be operated with many thermal fluids, so different tempering devices can be used for cooling or heating. The device can provide cooling with liquid nitrogen using the CryoPad. The CryoPad allows to select a specific temperature and maintain it between -100 °C and 0 °C.
The device achieves the desired fineness of the samples by intensively shaking the grinding jars and the grinding ball(s). The grinding jars can be filled up to 1/3 with sample. The second 1/3 is occupied by the respective grinding balls, while the third 1/3 remains free for the free movement of the sample and the grinding balls.
The parameters can be set and monitored on the touch screen display. 4 programs can be stored in the device's memory.
Typical areas of application:
With liquid nitrogen: The temperature control with liquid nitrogen only available with the CryoPad. The device and the CryoPad are connected to an external nitrogen tank (Autofill 50 l or Autofil 150 l). The CryoPad adjusts the flow of nitrogen with its PID temperature control system, which regulate the temperature of the thermal plates. Thanks to this, it is possible to select and maintain a specific value, which can be selected via the touch screen of the MM 500 Control device between -100 °C and 0 °C, in steps of 10.
With thermal liquid: In this case, the device can be connected to an external cryostat, recirculation cooler or water tap. The equipment connected to the device regulates the appropriate thermal fluid to the given temperature, which transmits this heat to the thermal plates. The significant heat that can be generated during the grinding process in the jar can also affect the temperature of the thermal plates, so with this option it is not possible to select and maintain a specific value. The temperature of the thermal plates may depend on: the temperature of the thermal fluid, the frequency and time of grinding, the volume of the jar, the size of the grinding balls, etc. During the grinding process, the temperature of the thermal plates can be continuously monitored on the display of the MM 500 Control.
