There are two types of rotors for cutting grinders: one type has 3 long cutting edges, while the other type of rotor consists of 6 discs. There are 3 short cutting knives (cutting inserts) on each disc, and each disc is assembled with a small offset.

In the case of the rotor with a cutting disc, at a given moment, not all 3 cutting edges "attack" the sample to be shredded, but 1/6 of this length. Thanks to this, the cutting insert attacks the pattern with a huge torque. This is why the rotor with a cutting disc is suitable for shredding all kinds of waste. The can is no problem, it even shreds the 1 mm thick steel sheet.

The cutting discs of the cutting disc rotor are reversible.
