The autoclavable bag prevents the interior of the autoclave from getting contaminated.
These bags can be ordered in different sizes - from 12 liters to 100 liters - in 5 sizes. The material of the bags is mostly PP (polypropylene), except for the bag with code number 22.200100, which is made of polyethylene (PE).
PP bags can withstand higher temperatures, so we definitely recommend using them for samples where liquid is expected to appear (e.g. petri dish with nutrient medium). Polypropylene bags can be safely used up to 121°C in a suitable autoclave.
A bag made of PE can easily get punctured, so it is especially important to use a bag (container closed from the bottom) for these. The use of the badella is also recommended for the other bags.
The red bags (22.200320, 321, 322) are made of high-density polypropylene. These bags can be used up to 138°C. Each bag contains a built-in sterility indicator.
Never close the bag, because the vacuum will open it anyway (the bag will burst), or in an autoclave without vacuum, the air cannot escape.
There is no sterilizing effect in places containing air (in the bag)!
Everything must be done to completely remove the air - from the bag.
In the case of an autoclave without a vacuum pump, pour a few dl of water into the bag. This will help to remove some (not all!) of the air from the bag.
To completely remove the air, to reduce the stench that occurs during slaughter, into the autoclave that can be validated.
More informationsVX-series devices include a steam generator as standard. These are autoclaves without compromise. Vertical laboratory autoclaves from 40 to 150 liters in volume.
